Die-hard sneakerheads will tell you one of their greatest fears is getting a dirt-stained smudge on their favorite pair of kicks. Some fanatics base the shoes they wear around the upcoming weather forecast; as the mere thought of a blemish keeps them awake at night. Yep, it's a thing. How many times have you tiptoed to your car or jumped over a water puddle to ensure your kicks stay fresh? That can't just be me, right?
Obviously, if you rock your kicks enough, it's an inevitable, but sad truth. They will get dirty, friends. Lucky for you, we know a guy. đ
Most consumers don't clean their shoes.
I was talking to a dear friend of mine a few weeks ago. She told me she buys shoes for practicality as opposed to fashion, style and presentation. She doesn't love to go shoe shopping and she doesn't care if they're dirty. Therefore, she has no need for the services clean kicks provide. With that said, she asked me a highly enticing question as a fellow business owner and the interested, uninformed consumer. She was also the mastermind behind this blog as she told me I should write it. Thanks, Evelyn!
How often should a person get their shoes cleaned?
Great question, right? Obviously, every pair of shoes are different based on their color waves, fabric and style. With that said, we recommend a Standard Treatment shoe cleaning more often than most consumers would imagine. For instance, if you're wearing the same pair of shoes three to five times per week, we suggest cleaning every four to six weeks (eight weeks tops). Why do you ask? It's simple math, friends. You're wearing them 12 to 20 times per month. Would you wear a shirt that many times in a row without washing it? It's not likely unless you're overwhelmingly superstitious which is a different blog for a completely different day.
The more you wear them, the more you should clean them.
If you're using shoes for running, working out, or other athletic ventures, we suggest a Premium Treatment shoe cleaning more often. The amount of dirt, sweat and overall wear have an effect on the shoe's performance and durability. Some may argue that paying $30 bi-monthly on a $100 pair of shoes to be cleaned is pointless. We disagree. If getting a sneaker treatment shoe cleaning keeps them updated and active for two (to three times) as long, it's more than worth it.
The kicks on the shelf are dirty too.
All you sneakerheads who keep your kicks on the shelf, boxed up. Those are collecting dust by the second, homies. Make sure they're freshened up every once in a while. We don't suggest a Sneaker Treatment shoe cleaning nearly as often, but it's important to keep 'em clean. Depending on the material, it may be as simple as a wipe down with a microfiber cloth. If you don't know, feel free to drop us a call or email. We're always here to help.Â
So to recap, get your shoes cleaned friends. If you're wearing them 4 or 5 times per week, we suggest a shoe cleaning every couple of months (at the latest). You're on your feet, walking around a lot; mostly outside. Trust us when we say your feet (and shoes) are dirty. Invest in yourself and get your kicks cleaned. They'll appreciate it.Â
